Deployment of Alcatel-Lucent Unified Communication Client using MDM
Alcatel-Lucent OmniTouch 8600 My Instant Communicator (MIC) and 8622 My Cellular Extension (MCE)
The MCE/MIC client delivers fantastic features to the mobile device, enabling the user to communicate in the way that is best for their business. However this means the client is complicated and can require a high level of mobile device configuration which is difficult for more than a few devices.
esemanage.net is a service designed to remotely deploy the MCE/MIC client and settings, together with Access Points, VPN’s and other associated requirements using a centralised management console.
esemanage.net provides a deployment service dedicated to the Alcatel-Lucent Unified Communications client and is ideal for the initial device deployment and troubleshooting. This is a fixed price per deployment which will last up to 2 months to allow configuration and troubleshooting.
Working with the Alcatel-Lucent Unified Communication client (MIC or MCE, using Nokia or Windows mobile devices)
esemanage.net will provide a MDM server dedicated to the customer which is available through a web interface. Access to the MDM server can be granted to you, and/or your customer depending who is responsible for the deployment.
A training session will be provided using the web interface to guide the MDM administrator around the platform to give a level of understanding about the processes available.

1. Planning and Testing
The MDM server will be pre configured with standard settings to support your specific customer deployment and esemanage.net will work with your Alcatel-Lucent deployment team by taking the mobile user configuration requirements for the UC network and importing them into the MDM database. We will also configure the MDM command messages to make your Alcatel-Lucent deployment as easy as possible.
By working with esemanage.net you will test the environment to ensure total success in using the Alcatel-Lucent UC client. This will involve testing the client, access points, security certificates and general user interface. esemanage.net will jointly develop documentation to support user acceptance.
2. Deployment
There are several deployment mechanisms and we will advise you of the best way to achieve your aims. Throughout the deployment you will have access to the esemanage.net support team who will monitor the activity and provide guidance to ensure the MDM platform is delivering your requirements in the best way.
You may decide to a perform a 'one shot' deployment or adopt a phased approach, but depending on your support resource you are likely to plan for deployments of up to many 100’s device in a day.
3. Troubleshooting
As with all deployments involving mobile device and wireless networks there are likely to be some issues. You are able to use the MDM platform to repeat the configuration on the device, or perform diagnostics to resolve the issue.
The deployment service allows 2 months for completion of the deployment and time to resolve ongoing problems which may include a range of configuration details from Access Points to VPN parameters.
The MDM platform is the ideal tool to reduce the cost of Alcatel-Lucent client deployment.
Description of service
Provision of a secure hosted mobile device management application accessed via a standard Internet connection for authorised Customer administrator/s providing the following Service functions (as fully defined by the latest released and approved Service administration guide).
Remote Deployment of Alcatel MIC/MCE Client on Nokia Eseries and MIC on Windows Mobile devices
- Configure ICC client with installation and user values
- Configure SIP client
- Configure Internet Telephone
- Configure Access Points and Personal Certificates for VPN
Allows a maximum of 4 named and pre-authorised Customer/Business Partner administrators.
A short term (2 months) availability of the MDM service to support initial deployment of Alcatel-Lucent UC clients and problem resolution.
2 months fixed term contract.
Pricing
Business Partner price is:
- Up to 50 devices € 500
- Up to 100 devices € 800
Thereafter € 8.00 for each additional device enabled.
Upgrade to Full Mobile Device Management
As a Business Partner you can select a Deployment service which is of limited term, or a full Mobile Device Management Service which is a minimum of 12 months contract term.
